NBA Draft experts answer key queries on 2022 class draft night

Draft night in the NBA is among the most significant events of the offseason, and this year UK basketball fans are even more interested because Jeremy Sochan will be there.

The 19-year-old from Baylor is expected to be a lottery pick and could go in the top 10. He plays for Poland, where his mother was also a famous basketball player, but Sochan, born in Oklahoma, USA, feels like an Englishman.

Michael Olowokandi, who grew up in Sussex and was the No. 1 pick in 1998, is not likely to follow in his footsteps. However, Sochan could sneak higher in the draft order than Luol Deng, who was taken at No. 7 in 2004 and is considered the best British NBA player. It is the one night that even the most dedicated basketball fans might turn off Woj and Shams notifications on their phones to avoid spoilers. However, if you don’t know much about the 2022 class, you might not know much about Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren, and Paulo Banchero. They are projected to be the top three picks. Okbet Philippines got you covered whether you’re looking for the best NBA odds for upcoming matchups or futures odds for the NBA Championship and player awards.

Here is what they had to say as follows:

There’s been a lot of attention on the top three players in this draft.

Which team is a good fit for which prospect?

James Plowright: Smith is number one on my list of players because he could be one of the great sharpshooters to come out of college,r and he’s only 19. Smith is known for how hard he works on defense and how versatile he is. I also think he will get better at making plays as he gets more experience in the NBA. Smith can play to his strengths early in his career with the help of Orlando’s other good ball-handlers.

Huw Hopkins: The Orlando Magic like to draft big men, but in recent years they’ve hurt the chances of many young, long-term prospects. Smith, Banchero, and Holmgren are all 6 feet 10 inches or taller, which is what they usually look for. It wouldn’t be surprising if they picked the skinny, longer, 7-foot Holmgren. But they might be better off taking Smith or Banchero because they can be used in more ways on offense.

Corey Tulaba: I think Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero are the best two players in the draft, in that order. We use the word “unicorn” too often these days, but Chet might be one. Don’t be fooled by Mr. Fantastic’s thin body. He has an outstanding combination of physical tools, a feel for the game, and the skills to become a prevalent two-way impact player in the league.

How strongly do you think this draft class is overall?

Corey Tulaba: With four guys who could be stars in the top five picks. The 2021 Draft class is hard to beat. But I think that the class of 2022 will be vital. Each of the top three projected prospects has a good chance of becoming an All-NBA player one day. The rest of the lottery has impacted players who fit the way the NBA is going now. And I think intelligent teams will make valuable plays in the rest of the first round. The 2022 NBA Draft might not be as good as the one before, but many long-time NBA players should come from this class.

James Plowright: This draft looks like it will be one of the weaker ones of the last ten years. Due to the number of stars at the top of the draft and the lack of depth in the second round. I’m not sure there will be any leading players like Durant, LeBron, or Steph Curry. But there will be some good All-Star-caliber supporting players like Draymond Green, Jaylen Brown, and Bam Adebayo. But in the infamous 2013 draft, a young Greek player named Giannis Antetokounmpo was picked 15th. And went on to win the Finals MVP two years in a row. There are always great ideas that are hard to find.

Do you think the draft will have any big surprises?

Tyler Rucker: Absolutely. The Draft is the most like reality TV that basketball fans get. There have been many rumors about some players and what they might be worth on draft night. If the rumors are true, everyone should get ready.

James Plowright: Things never go as planned in the Draft, and there are always surprises. Ousmane Dieng is a name to keep an eye on. For a long time, people thought he would go between 14 and 20, but recently, there has been talking that he could go as high as 10th.

Corey Tulaba: The best thing about the draft night is that you never know what will happen! Last year, when the Raptors chose Scottie Barnes over Jalen Suggs, the NBA world was shocked. Josh Giddey was taken with the next pick. This year, you might not see anything as surprising as Anthony Bennett going to the Cavaliers with the first pick. But I think Thursday night will be a lot of fun.
