The Detroit Pistons versus the Dallas Mavericks had a surprising outcome, as the home team won in overtime last Friday, December 2, snapping their three-game losing streak.

Pistons’ forward Bojan Bogdanović led his team in points, scoring 30, including four rebounds and four assists. Third-year point guard Killian Hayes also made a considerable contribution, giving Detroit 22 pts in their OT win 131-125.

Meanwhile, Luka Doncic of the Mavs performed splendidly, as usual. He finished with a double-double, 35 points, ten assists, and five rebounds, his eleventh this season.

Tim Hardaway Jr and Christian Wood contributed 26 and 25 apiece in the losing effort — the only two players from the Mavs that reached double digits.

Both teams tied in the first quarter of the game, but the Pistons managed to take the lead before halftime, 60-61.

11:31 into Q3, Bogdanovic made a three-pointer, upping the score 60-64. Before going into the fourth quarter, the Mavs were down by ten points.

But, confident with their lead, Detroit collapsed, letting Doncic and his team catch up. Reggie Bullock sends it to overtime with a beautiful reverse layup, 117 apiece.

But unfortunately, the Pistons proved to be the better team going into OT. Hayes scored eight points of his team’s 14, improving their standing to 6-18. The Mavs, on the other hand, is now 10-11.

Is Bogdanović Playing His Best Season Yet?

For the start of the 2022-23 season, Bojan is looking good so far. Despite his team being dead last in the rankings, the 33-year-old Pistons player averages 20.7 points per game, unlike during his time in the Utah Jazz.

This season also topped his performance last 2019-2020 with the Jazz, scoring 20.2 per game. Also, Bogdanović is shooting better early this season, having a percentage of 50.8%, besting his career-high of 45.9%.

He is already in his tenth season. If he continues to shoot this well, the Pistons’ management will hopefully provide him with some help.

His recent performance with the Detroit Pistons versus the Dallas Mavericks also showed how much he has improved playing the four.
