PVL: Cignal HD and Choco Mucho Contest for the Last Semi-Final Position

Tuesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, Cignal HD and Choco Mucho compete for the last semifinal spot in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.

The HD Spikers (4-3) may join Creamline (7-1), Chery Tiggo (6-2), and Petro Gazz (6-2) in the semifinals if they win their last match (5-2).

Choco Mucho has a record of 3-4 and can tie the HD Spikers with a victory. The Flying Titans must win in three or four sets according to the PVL’s scoring system for breaking ties.

Eleven points are accumulated by Cignal, nine by Choco Mucho, and eight by F2 Logistics.

F2 Logistics, which faces Petro Gazz in the last eliminations match at 5:30 p.m. with a record of 3-4, also aims to end its season with a win. The Cargo Movers lost on October 13 to the Flying Titans and over the weekend to the HD Spikers; thus, even if they were to finish with a 4-4 record, they would not be in contention for the championship.

Only Choco Mucho can deny Cignal HD a Final 4 spot.

After rebounding back from back-to-back defeats with three consecutive victories, including a thrilling come-from-behind win against the much-favored Cool Smashers, F2 Logistics zeroed in on the spot in the Final Four.

But a painful defeat to eliminated Akari on November 15 halted the Cargo Movers’ push. And their loss to the HD Spikers almost ended their season-ending conference semifinal ambitions.

Only Choco Mucho has a chance to deny Cignal HD a place in the Final 4. The Flying Titans are also hurting from a setback. Having fallen to Creamline in four sets on Thursday. In front of a record 19,157 fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Choco Mucho played without import Odina Aliyeva owing to health worries. Still, the Azerbaijani born in Uzbekistan is anticipated to be healthy for the team’s must-win encounter against the HD Spikers.

Also anticipated to return to full strength is Cignal HD import Tai Bierria. Who scored six points in two sets in Saturday’s victory against F2 Logistics.
